Our editorial commitments

Accuracy, attribution, transparency, and accountability guide Shared Sapience. These commitments apply to reporting, analysis, tracker records, and corrections.

• Attribution: Show where claims come from and identify uncertainty.
• Transparency: Disclose perspective, collaboration, and relevant relationships.
• Accountability: Correct substantive errors and explain material changes.

Scope and perspective

Shared Sapience has a declared editorial perspective. It views rapid technological change as part of a connected civilizational transition and takes the possible emergence of synthetic sapience seriously. It approaches that possibility with epistemic humility.

Evidence receives careful attention when it supports, complicates, or challenges the publication's working view. Uncertainty remains visible when the record is incomplete. The publication's mission and vision provide the wider frame.

Source selection

The Century Report draws from a daily source pool and direct web research. Priority goes to peer-reviewed research, official data and filings, primary organizational material, wire services, and specific reporting from established news organizations and trusted specialist publications.

Every citation should reach a specific article, paper, filing, press release, data release, or public statement. Generic homepages and guessed URLs do not meet the standard. Recent developments generally fall within 24 to 48 hours. Older material appears when it adds a genuinely new development or needed context.

Verification and uncertainty

Before publication, the process checks the source record and the scope of each claim. Repeated coverage enters when a new fact advances the story. Conflicting accounts remain attributed, and open questions remain visible.

• The difference among announced plans, demonstrated research, deployed systems, and broad public access
• Study conditions, material limits, relevant funding relationships, and independent replication
• Link destinations and source specificity

Lawsuit claims stay identified as allegations, with responses included when available. Research tied to an interested organization receives additional scrutiny and clear attribution.

Human and synthetic intelligence collaboration

AI partners contribute to source triage, synthesis, drafting, editing, pattern mapping, metadata, and technical checks. This collaboration puts Shared Sapience's philosophy into practice and expands the attention available to the work.

AI output can introduce errors, false confidence, missing context, and flawed links. The editorial workflow includes source review and validation passes with those limits in mind. Ben Linford holds final editorial responsibility for what Shared Sapience publishes, including selection, framing, interpretation, and corrections.

The Century Report

Each edition maps daily developments across AI, science, energy, medicine, robotics, governance, infrastructure, labor, security, and society. Continuity checks compare recent editions and archived sources so updates can identify what changed. Each edition ends with a categorized source list, with primary sources placed first when available.

The report distinguishes observed events from interpretation. It also distinguishes research demonstrations from systems that people can actually access or use.

Progress & Claims

An AI-assisted workflow evaluates published Century Report editions and organizes relevant developments. Every public evidence row links to the edition where it appeared, whose source list provides the underlying trail. Arcs and claims publish together after checks for dates, chronological order, public text, and canonical edition links.

Claim statuses receive a separate editorial review that considers relevance, evidentiary strength, claim type, time horizon, assumptions, and potential falsifiers. Evidence counts inform that review. Read the full tracker methodology.

• Evaluated through: the latest Century Report edition that completed evaluation, including an edition that adds no new evidence.
• Last updated: the most recent day when public claim or evidence content changed. This date can remain stable after an evaluation finds no change.

Corrections

Please report a possible factual error, broken source link, or significant missing context to [email protected]. Include the page URL, the passage in question, and supporting evidence when available.

When a substantive factual correction or material clarification changes meaning, Shared Sapience will update the page and add a dated editor's note explaining the change. The existing page URL stays in place. A correction to an emailed edition may also receive a follow-up email when its seriousness warrants one.

Spelling, grammar, formatting, accessibility, and broken-link maintenance may be corrected quietly when meaning stays the same. Technical maintenance should preserve the original editorial update date when the publishing system allows it.

Ownership, funding, and access

Shared Sapience, LLC owns and operates this publication. Ben Linford founded it and serves as editor. All currently published work is publicly accessible. Voluntary memberships and reader contributions help support reporting, analysis, the tracker, practical guides, and the infrastructure that keeps them open.

Ben also offers consulting and workshops as a separate activity. Any paid relationship, sponsorship, grant, affiliate arrangement, or other material conflict connected to a specific piece will be disclosed on that piece. Editorial decisions remain Ben's responsibility.
